Dak Kopec is a two-time prize-winning author published with Bloomsbury Press, Pearson/Prentice Hall, and Routledge. He is committed to social justice, especially as applied to the unique situations and circumstances many young gay males face. Dak is also a Professor at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) and has lectured around the world.
I wrote Broken Boys Beyond Friendships to shed light on situations
many young men, primarily gay, experience. While it is true that not everyone faces the cruelty of sexism, homophobia, and oppression, many have and continue to do so.For example, I had three roommates in Los Angeles when I went to school. Of the four of us, only two survived—we have a 50% survival rate. While Broken Boys Beyond Friendships is a work of fiction, the ideas and inspiration did come from events I experienced first-hand and from my friends.
